GCSE Results 2018

After weeks of anxious waiting the year 11 students at Huish Episcopi collected their GCSE results today with celebration and tears of joy.  Many individual students achieved very high grades across all subjects, with some gaining the new 7-9 grades (equivalent of A, A* and A**) in every subject. Individuals with notable results include Luke Macpherson (seven 9s, two 8s and two 7s), Nahum Hillier (five 9s, four 8s and three 7s), Charlotte Maple (five 9s, two 8s and three 7s), Isobel Sargeant (four 9s, four 8s and two 7s), Ivy Langley (three 9s, five 8s and three 7s), Adam Goodwin (three 9s, three 8s and five 7s), Bobby Clark (two 9s, one 8 and seven 7s), Megan Dams (one 9, six 8s and two 7s).

Across the whole cohort the results were pleasing, with nearly 80% of students gaining a pass in English and just under 77% gaining a pass in Maths. Especially positive, were those gaining the highest grades in the core subjects of English and Maths; 23.3% and 27.4% respectively.

Many members of staff were on hand to join in with the celebrations and to congratulate the students on their fantastic achievements. Huish Principal Chris Wade said “I am absolutely delighted that so many students were able to gain or improve on the grades they were working towards, despite the pressure placed on them by the demands of the new exam courses. They have a great deal to be proud about. So much hard work goes into preparing our students for these exams, it really is a huge team effort, so my thanks go to all members of staff on this very important day”.
