I’m excited to return to Huish after training here as a teacher 14 years ago. I’ve spent the majority of my teaching life working in the Somerset area so have an excellent understanding of the opportunities and challenges available to our students and their families. I am proud to be part of the successful pastoral team and am looking forward to maintaining high standards and developing new expectations within our community.
I passionately believe that all students have the ability to succeed. Individuals in Chelston House will be supported, challenged and sometimes cajoled into striving to become the “best version of themselves”. Students will be encouraged to be aspirational and fulfil their true potential, whilst accepting themselves as individuals. Diversity and differences will be celebrated and uniqueness encouraged.
Running alongside this, are the core value of respect and adherence to community values. Students will develop a sense of pride not only in their green ties but also their membership of the wider Huish community. Restorative principles will encourage an understanding of the impact of individual actions on the whole school developing a sense of responsibility.
Combined, this will result in Chelston being a House where everyone is happy, resilient and has a real sense of belonging. At times it may not be easy, which is why I keep the beacon of our lighthouse at the forefront. Our ultimate aim is for your child to be the best version of themselves they can be and this can only be achieved in partnership with you.
Should you wish to discuss your child’s attendance, progress, behaviour or any other issue please do not hesitate to contact me.
