COURSE OVERVIEW

The GCSE Statistics course provides students with essential skills in data analysis, helping them make sense of the world around them. Students will explore a range of topics, including collecting data, analysing and representing data, scatter graphs & correlation, and probability. Through the course, they will gain the ability to process and interpret data, including in real-world situations. This course is ideal for students looking to improve their mathematical outcomes and gain an understanding of statistical concepts that apply across a variety of fields.

 

STYLE OF ASSESSMENT

The course is assessed through two written exams at the end of Year 11, each lasting 1 hour and 30 minutes. These exams cover all aspects of the curriculum, and there is no coursework involved.

 

LEARNER REQUIREMENTS

This course is only for students who are going to be sitting the Foundation Maths GCSE.

They should have an interest in data and problem-solving and be keen to develop an understanding of how statistics apply in real life.

[Note: Higher GCSE Statistics can be taken as an additional after-school club throughout Year 10]

GCSE Statistics will enhance students’ performance in Maths and benefit any further studies that involve any statistics, including Business, Computing, and the Humanities.
