Welcome to Huish Episcopi Sixth Form

At Huish Episcopi Sixth Form, our core values, respect, ambition and resilience, shape your journey towards academic excellence and personal growth. We are committed to fostering an environment where you can thrive both academically and personally.

Excellence in Results and Opportunities

At Huish Sixth Form, we achieve excellent academic outcomes. A high proportion of our students secure their first-choice university, including notable success with Oxbridge admissions and Russell Group universities. Many of our students also progress to competitive apprenticeships at top firms.

Specialized Programmes and Opportunities

  • HE+ Programme: In partnership with the University of Cambridge, this programme offers higher-achieving students super-curricular opportunities that stretch and challenge. Through residential visits and tutoring from Cambridge academic staff, students expand their knowledge and understanding of key themes and ideas.
  • Oxbridge Preparation/Aspire Programme: This programme offers one-to-one support for students applying to Oxford, Cambridge, and other top universities. It includes tailored assistance with applications, mock interviews, and preparation for university life.
  • Education Partnership with Exeter University: Our Sixth Form students benefit from exclusive support, including access to the Exeter Scholars Programme and contextualised offers.
  • Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)/ Core Maths: Students are able to study for additional qualifications such as an EPQ or Core Maths that carry UCAS points. This gives them the opportunity to showcase academic curiosity and analytical skills and can allow them to undertake independent research.
  • Work Experience: All of our Sixth Form students gain valuable real-world experience and practical skills through our work experience opportunities. These placements help students make informed career choices and build a professional network for the future.

Our Learning Environment

We set high expectations for ourselves and for our students. In return, our students benefit from high-quality teaching, outstanding facilities, and a supportive, caring community. Our commitment extends beyond the classroom, offering a wide range of social and enrichment activities to ensure our students are fully prepared for their next steps, whether applying to top universities, pursuing apprenticeships, or entering the workforce.

Academic and Pastoral Support

Our dedicated teachers are here to support both academically and pastorally. We recognize that each student’s aspirations are unique, and our tailored tutoring and pastoral systems ensure that students’ individual needs are met. We are committed to nurturing our students’ self-confidence and independence, equipping them with the resilience and determination needed to succeed, not only during their time with us but also as they navigate life beyond Huish Episcopi Sixth Form.

Role Models for Our Community

Our Sixth Form students are role models for younger students and an embodiment of the Huish Way. They lead by example in lessons, during independent study, and through active participation in the broader Huish Episcopi Academy community.

‘Huish Episcopi Sixth Form really gives you the chance to keep friendships you’ve built throughout secondary, but also welcome in new friends. There are plenty of focused spaces for completing work, but also always people around for a laugh & a chat. The small classes means we get the best from each subject, and personalised teaching.   Talking through any challenges or issues we are facing is always easy with so many approachable members of staff, and our tutors. Everything from daily organisation to University applications feels supported, and the support we received will prepare us for our next steps for the future.’

Will: A, A, A in Maths, Physics and Chemistry A Levels. Physics with Astrophysics, University of Bristol.

‘I really enjoyed the Huish Episcopi Sixth Form experience, especially the friendly environment the staff and students alike create. Independent learning and being allowed to manage your own time really adds to the feeling of being treated like an adult. Transitioning between year 11 and year 12 has never been easier due to the small classes and individual directed teaching. Choosing Huish Episcopi Sixth Form is a great choice you won’t regret.’

Matthew: A*, A, A, A Maths, Geography, Physics, EPQ. Mechanical Engineering, University of Exeter.

‘I enjoyed studying at Huish as it has a highly supportive learning environment where the teachers are dedicated to helping you do the best you can and offer help if you need it. The transition  from an external school was really easy because of the small class sizes and the very friendly atmosphere that has been established in the sixth form as everyone looks out for each other. I was extremely happy with my decision to join the sixth form and have made some amazing friends.’
